BIBLE-PRESBYTERIAN CHURCHES
JOIN US AND BE A PART OF GOD’S FAMILY!
OUR HISTORY
Zion Bible-Presbyterian Church began on 23rd June 1957, at Tavistock Avenue, Serangoon Gardens. By God’s grace the church successfully tendered for a plot of land at Bishan East and in 1994 services were inaugurated. Zion Bishan was registered as an autonomous church, Zion Bishan Bible-Presbyterian Church, in 2010. Zion B-P Church has been renamed Zion Serangoon Bible-Presbyterian Church from 2011.
OUR FORM OF GOVERNMENT
Each church is subject to its Constitution in faith and in the conduct of ministry, and is governed by Elders. The Elders, including the Pastors, are responsible for the spiritual oversight of the Church. Deacons and Deaconesses are responsible for the administrative functioning of the Church.
ACTION GROUPS
An Action Group (AG) is a small group of Christians meeting in homes or elsewhere to pray, study the Bible, fellowship and care for one another to help each other grow in their Christian lives. An AG is also involved in church activities and other Christian ministries such as witnessing, outreach and foreign missions.
AGs exist because it is impossible for the pastors to single-handedly provide everything the flock needs. Christians need support, encouragement, love, guidance, teaching and discipline. An AG provides its members access to the people who can share these things.
Action Groups are an integral part of our ministry to members. We welcome you to participate in this important area of our church life and to enjoy the blessings the Lord provides through it. Please speak to any of the church leaders or staff, who will be happy to help you join an AG.
MISSIONS & EVANGELISM
In obedience to Jesus’ command to us to proclaim the Gospel to all, near and far, we consider the task of evangelism and disciple-making as the primary and urgent task of our church. Members are urged to win souls and make disciples for Christ. We provide training for those who need help in this area. Our prayer is that both individually and together we can harness the resources of the church for the work of evangelism.
Home Missions
Through the Bible-Presbyterian Welfare Services, Zion Serangoon and Zion Bishan are involved in care for the elderly (The Ling Kwang Home for Senior Citizens), the intellectually disabled (The Bishan Home for the Intellectually Disabled), and youths at risk (The Ling Kwang Youth Centre). We have a long-standing pre-school educational ministry through the Zion Kindergarten (Serangoon) and the Zion Bishan Kindergarten. Another ministry partner is the Biblical Graduate School of Theology, which has helped to equip many Christians, both as lay persons and for pastoral and missionary service. We also conduct tuition for the needy and visitation to the chronically ill at the Ren Ci Hospital. We also support ministry at prisons and drug centres as well as halfway houses for drug rehabilitation such as the Helping Hand (for men) and Turning Point (for ladies). Our ongoing aim in Home Missions is to plant more churches in Singapore, as God leads us.
Foreign Missions
Zion Serangoon and Zion Bishan are involved in foreign mission work in several countries. Besides sending our members as missionaries, we also work closely with missions partners (mission agencies and local churches abroad) on the twin principles of pioneer mission work and theological training. We also share our church resources with the less fortunate in social work. We have a daughter church, Zion B-P Church Coimbatore, in India.
